CAMBRIDGE, Ohio -- An early-morning incident left a quarter-mile of Interstate 70 covered in sheets of broken glass on Tuesday.
According to the Cambridge Post of the State Highway Patrol, several 911 callers reported at around 5:00am that a stretch of I-70 westbound, near the Champion Sparkplug exit, was covered in shattered glass. Troopers responded to the scene and spoke to the driver of the truck that had been hauling the panes of glass. The driver said it appeared that the glass had not been properly secured, and that more than 35 sheets of glass tumbled out of the back of the truck and onto the roadway.
Crews from ODOT responded to the scene, and cleared all the debris from the roadway by around 7:00am. Dispatchers said that, to their knowledge, no accidents or flat tires resulted from the broken glass on the interstate.
