CAMBRIDGE, Ohio -- The Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will give the public an opportunity on Saturday to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially-dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs.
Residents are asked to bring unwanted medications for disposal to Riesbeck’s in Cambridge from 10:00am to 2:00pm. No liquid medications, syringes, or injected medications will be accepted at the event. The service is free and anonymous - no questions will be asked. Authorities across the country are advising citizens that the usual methods for disposing of unused medicines - flushing them down the toilet or throwing them in the trash - can pose both safety and health hazards. In its six previous "Take Back" events, DEA and its partners took in over 2 million pounds of pills.
