GUERNSEY COUNTY, Ohio -- Guernsey County authorities are on-the-lookout for a suspect who attempted to kidnap a woman on Tuesday afternoon.
Deputies responded to Claysville Road, near the intersection with Phillips Road, at around 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday after a 911 caller advised her friend's vehicle had broken down, but that the woman was no longer with the car. The caller became concerned for her friend's safety when she saw the victim's phone on the ground near the car.
A short time later, employees from an AEP substation on Glenn Highway reported that a visibly-shaken woman had appeared at the site, saying she had been abducted and escaped. The woman reported that, after running out of gas, a man drove up next to her car and ordered her into his truck at gunpoint. After a short distance, the victim kicked the man and leapt from the moving vehicle, then ran into the woods before reaching the substation.
Capt. Jeff Paden of the Guernsey County Sheriff's Office told AVC News that the suspect is described as a white male in his mid- to late-40's, with short, brown hair and wearing a black shirt. The suspect's vehicle is believed to be a dark blue, 1995 Chevrolet Z91 pick-up truck.
Anyone who has seen the man or his vehicle is asked to contact the Guernsey County Sheriff's Office at 740.439.4455.
